Terms of Use
Effective May 12, 2026
Welcome to Tarrs. By creating an account or using anything at tarrs.io or*.dev.tarrs.io, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the product.
We've tried to keep this short. If something is unclear, email legal@tarrs.io.
1. The service
Tarrs is an AI development platform. You give it access to a repository (or start from a template), connect an AI provider (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini), and the agent reads your code, writes commits, opens pull requests, and runs your dev server in a sandboxed container. Specifics in our privacy policy and on the homepage.
2. Your account
You're responsible for the security of your account. Don't share credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access, email security@tarrs.io right away.
You must be 16 or older to use Tarrs. You must give us a real email you control. If you're using Tarrs on behalf of a company or team, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.
3. What you can do
You can use Tarrs to build and ship your own software, prototypes, internal tools, side projects, client work, anything you have the rights to. The code the AI writes for you is yours.
You can connect any AI provider you have a valid account with. Tarrs never marks up token costs — you pay the provider directly for AI usage.
4. What you can't do
Sandboxes run on shared infrastructure. Behavior that endangers other customers, breaks the law, or violates a third-party provider's terms gets your account frozen and (after review) terminated. Specifically, don't use Tarrs to:
- Send unsolicited email or any other form of spam.
- Mine cryptocurrency or run other proof-of-work workloads.
- Run a proxy, VPN, Tor relay, or any anonymizing tunnel.
- Launch denial-of-service attacks or any form of network abuse.
- Scrape websites at a rate or scope that violates that site's terms or robots.txt.
- Host phishing pages, malware, or fraudulent content.
- Train AI models on someone else's data without their permission.
- Attempt to escape the sandbox, exfiltrate data from other tenants, or interfere with Tarrs infrastructure.
- Resell access to AI tokens we forward to your configured provider.
- Violate the terms of any AI provider you connect (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, etc.).
- Process regulated data (PHI, financial data covered by PCI-DSS, etc.) unless we've signed a specific addendum with you.
- Use Tarrs to build a directly competing AI development platform.
We monitor for abuse via automated signals (egress bandwidth, CPU usage, request patterns). If your account trips a signal, we may pause your sandboxes pending review. We'll email you before freezing where possible; we'll freeze first and ask later if the activity is causing live harm to other customers.
5. AI outputs
The AI is a tool. Outputs may be wrong, insecure, or contain bugs. You are responsible for reviewing and testing anything the agent writes before relying on it in production. We are not liable for harm caused by code the AI generated for you.
AI providers occasionally generate output that resembles existing copyrighted material. We do not claim ownership of AI outputs and we don't warrant they are non-infringing. Use the same diligence you'd use for code you wrote yourself.
6. Your content, our license
You retain ownership of all code, prompts, configurations, and other content you submit to Tarrs ("Your Content"). You grant Tarrs a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the service for you — running your sandbox, forwarding prompts to the AI provider, persisting your chat history, etc.
We never use Your Content to train any model. We never share it with third parties except the sub-processors listed in our privacy policy and only as required to deliver the service.
7. Pricing & billing
Tarrs is pure pay-as-you-go. You top up a prepaid credit wallet, and we meter usage against it: compute is billed by the second while a sandbox is running, plus a small data-retention fee while a project is paused. There is no subscription and no per-seat fee. Current rates live in-app on your billing page and may change with 30 days' notice.
If your wallet balance runs out, your sandboxes are paused. After a 30-day grace period, paused projects are permanently destroyed, and we'll have emailed you 7 days before the destroy.
AI tokens are billed by the AI provider directly using your OAuth grant or API key — Tarrs never sees the charge and doesn't mark it up.
Prepaid credits are non-refundable except where required by law. You can stop using the service at any time; unused credits simply remain on your wallet.
8. Termination
You can stop using Tarrs anytime. Delete each project from Project Settings to release its compute resources; close your account by emailing legal@tarrs.io.
We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, fail to pay, are using Tarrs in a way that materially damages us or other users, or for any reason on 30 days' notice. We'll give you a chance to export your data before we delete it.
9. Disclaimers
Tarrs is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing.
We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error- free, that AI outputs will be accurate, or that any specific AI provider will remain integrated. We rely on third-party infrastructure (AWS, Anthropic, GitHub, etc.) — when they have outages, we may have outages.
10. Limit of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tarrs's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) $100.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill — even if we've been advised of the possibility.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You'll indemnify and hold Tarrs harmless from any third-party claim arising out of (a) your breach of these terms, (b) your use of Tarrs in violation of someone else's rights, or (c) Your Content.
12. Changes to the service or these terms
We're an early-stage product. Features will be added, changed, and sometimes removed. We'll give reasonable notice for any change that materially reduces the service. Continuing to use Tarrs after a terms change means you accept the updated terms; if you don't, stop using the service before the effective date.
13. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or the service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Each party waives any right to a jury trial. Neither party may participate in any class action against the other.
14. Miscellaneous
These terms are the entire agreement between you and Tarrs regarding the service and supersede any prior agreement. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stay in force. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver. You can't assign these terms; we can assign them to a successor (acquisition, etc.) on notice.
